The Traditional Baguazhang - This is believed to be the original style that was taught by Tung Hai Chan.
The Hine Institute teach this particular style in our schools.
It is characteristically expansive and flowing, without being too ostentatious.
The footwork used predominantly in this particular form, is called the Dragon Skims across the Lake.
With this particular footwork the Bagua practitioner appears to almost skate across the floor, moving easily and smoothly.
This particular footwork allows the internal energy Chi to be held down and feel centred.
Pa Kua Chang means 8 Diagrams Palm and is probably the most mysterious of all the Chinese Martial Arts. It is based upon the ancient Taoist I Ching (Book of Changes), divinatory system. The movements of Pa Kua mimic the mystical dragon, which the ancient Taoists viewed as a snake with wings, constantly twisting, coiling and circling. The Pa Kua system is excellent for developing fitness, stamina, good health and a powerful self-defence.
Pa Kua training consists of the Circling Dragon Form, which has several levels, Pushing Hands, Chi Kung, self-defence and at advanced levels, weapons training.
John Hine is a Chinese Internal Martial Arts Master who has been training for over 45 years, and runs one of the longest established and successful chain of Tai Chi schools in the UK.
